Stage 6 Hereford to Brecon

Grannies and their friends were welcome to join Beryl, especially on the circular walks.  Julia was delighted to collect any donations to the Granny Trek fund for Children's Hospice South West.

Beryl set off on the Wye Valley Way on Monday the 4th arriving in Hay on Wye on Tuesday the 5th, where she crossed the border from England into Wales.  Grateful thanks to Wye Valley AONB for their donation of The Wye Valley Way Guide Book. Beryl feels sure she will want to walk the entire length at some time in the future.

The motor home was parked at The Holly Bush Inn, Hay on Wye, for 3 nights 4th, 5th and 6th July.

Janet Morgan (01497 820381) had kindly agreed to take charge of a 7 mile walk on Wednesday 6th July, starting from the main Hay Car Park going through Llanigon and up to Hen Allt common. It was a beautiful walk, with some climbs and a large number  from Hay on Wye, Newport and Bristol enjoyed it.

Beryl left on Thursday to walk two days to Brecon, arriving on the 8th July. Now the terrain began to get tougher., though undeniably more spectacular.

A circular walk started from the  Brecon Mountain Centre on Saturday the 9th July to Fan Frynach and back - approximately 8 miles - not a difficult walk, with only 1 steep hill.  This walk had kindly been arranged by Tom Booth of Newport (01633 252783), who will be the leader and a good number accompanied him and wife Mavis.

The motorhome was at Brynich Caravan Park, Brecon for 3 nights 7th, 8th and 9th July.

The team say a heartfelt thank you to all our overnight hosts for their support.
