Stage 5 Tewkesbury to Hereford

Grannies and their friends were welcome to join Beryl, especially on the circular walks.  Julia was delighted to collect any donations to the Granny Trek fund for Children's Hospice South West.

Beryl, Fritz and Rudi will left on Sunday 26th June for Malvern.  Walkers from Malvern joined her for the second day at Welland Lodge (Tom Clapton 01684 562883).

On Tuesday the 28th June, Tom had selected the Tom Holland Memorial Walk, though he was unfortunately unable to join it.   The walk was five and a half easy miles from Malvern Common, beginning at St Andrews Church (SO789443) through Guarlford, Hanley Swan and Blackmore Park, which was delightful.

Sincere thanks to Tom Clapton and his friend Terry Arnold for their help with route planning and maps.

The motorhome was parked at Woodside Lodges near Ledbury for the nights of 26th to 29th inclusive, as guests of Ken and Janet Davies.

Beryl left Malvern on the 29th June, accompanied for the day by Mike Paulson, and walked through Ledbury, Putley and Mordiford, passing the half-way point of the Granny Trek and reaching Hereford on Friday the 1st July.

On Sunday 3rd July Sally Smith of Hereford U3A had kindly agreed to arrange and lead a circular walk in the morning!  (There was no way we were going to miss the Wimbledon Men's Final!)  However, she was unable to do so and unfortunately Hereford was the only town on the Granny Trek that didn't hold a mini GT.  This was a shame, as we subsequently had contact with walkers who would have helped us had they known about it.

Therefore Saturday and Sunday, the 2nd and 3rd July was a weekend off.  This was particularly good as younger son Michael and his family joined us for the weekend.

The motorhome was parked at Poston Mill Caravan Park near Hereford for 3 nights 1st, 2nd and 3rd July inclusive.

The team say a heartfelt thank you to all our overnight hosts for their support.
