Stage 2 Bury St Edmunds to Bedford

Grannies and their friends were welcome to join Beryl, especially on the circular walks.  Julia was delighted to collect any donations to the Granny Trek fund for Children's Hospice South West.

On Tuesday the 7th June, Beryl left Bury St Edmunds and walked three days to Cambridge.  The circular walk scheduled for Friday 10th had been moved forward to Wednesday 8th. Alan Hardy (01799 584718) of Castle Camps kindly agreed to arrange and lead this walk, starting at The Three Hills car park at Ashdon Road, Bartlow (01223 891259). Alan and Jean Hardy also generously agreed to accommodate the motorhome for the night of the 7th. The team moved to Highfield Farm Touring Park at Comberton after this walk and stayed three nights (8th, 9th and 10th June) as guests of the Chapman family.

On Saturday the 11th, Beryl set out on The Wimpole Way towards Bedford.  She walked parts of The Clopton Way, The Greensand Ridge Walk, The Kingfisher Way and The Ouse Valley Way over three days, arriving in Bedford on Monday the 13th.  Sincere thanks to Eric Lund of Biggleswade for his detailed information on this section of the route.

On Tuesday 14th June there was a circular walk at Marston Vale Millennium Country Park, kindly arranged by Clive Walsh (01234 762605), Project Officer of the Walking for Health Initiative at The Forest Centre, and Annabel Nelms (01234 356330).

The team say a heartfelt thank you to all our overnight hosts for their support.
