Happy New Year

April 2007 Granny Trekkers

Hello to old friends and new visitors. Christmas and New Year festivities are already a distant memory, but belatedly I send my very best wishes for , a happyhealthy and prosperous time ahead for you all.

I’m hugely relieved to report that Fritz is his old self, fully recovered from his invasion of bladder stones. He had four operations in 2007, but appears to have weathered it all with no ill effects. Rudi too is full of fitness and energy, though he’s moulting so heavily at the moment that clumps of his fur are everywhere.

Preparations are well underway for this year’s Granny Trek at Charlton Farm on Sunday, 27th April. Sponsor forms will shortly be available and you should telephone Louise Turner on 01275 866600 to apply for an information pack.

There is the most wonderful news. Severnside Rotarians have volunteered to organise and man the Granny Trek – isn’t that fantastic? I am hugely indebted to the many staunch walkers who have helped me over the last two years and hope that this year they will just thoroughly enjoy the day, with no responsibilities except to hopefully have filled up their sponsor forms and also brought along friends and family.

Those visiting this journal for the first time may like to browse through the journal, especially June and July of 2005 when the initial 600 mile Granny Trek was underway. I hope that reading it may inspire you to join us on 27th April.
