Celebration Granny Trek! Already almost three weeks into the New Year and we’re looking ahead to the Celebration Granny Trek at Charlton Farm. We had at first planned to hold it on 25th March, but since we’ve been extremely fortunate in securing the support of Barclays Bank – who will double all the sponsorship we can raise for their walkers - we’ve moved it on to 1st April, as the Bank girls couldn’t make the original date. Last summer we had tremendous support from Denise of Barclays and her colleagues, so it will be like walking with old friends this Spring. It does make a terrific difference to the amount raised. £10 becomes £20 and, if the donor pays tax, then a tick in the gift aid box adds another £2.80. Eddie Farwell, Chief Executive of Children’s Hospice South West, will be at Charlton Farm all morning and tours of the site will go on all day. The Granny Trek team will be presenting the money raised so far at 10-15am, and from 12-30 to 2-30 refreshments will be available. Due to the numbers expected, we’re having to employ caterers for this, so we hope our walkers will feel able to make a donation for their sustenance. All we need that we can’t organise ourselves is a bright sunny day. |
