Somerset Sound!![]() Rudi and Fritz behaved impeccably on their first introduction to a crowded hall. The U3A Coffee Morning in Bridgwater Masonic Hall was a good test, as there was very little room for them amongst the many pairs of feet. Fritz quickly lay down quietly, finding the occasion something of a bore. Rudi was alert and interested in everything around him, emitting one or two tiny squeaks as a contribution to the speeches, but soon he also lost interest and lay down for a snooze. This augers well for what we hope will be many public appearances in the future. Some U3A members had learned of the Granny Trek in the Bridgwater Mercury. We had an excellent write-up, with picture, which had also appeared in the Burnham paper the previous week. From this publicity, we were picked up by BBC Somerset Sound and on Thursday morning, Julia and I were interviewed for almost 20 minutes by Adam Thomas (see picture) He made us feel very relaxed and we felt we presented our plans quite well, though it’s easy afterwards to think of omissions. BBC Somerset Radio Interview (8.5Mbs) We do hope the message is getting out that we want grannies to organize lots of events for Granny Trek and focus attention on this theme of Granny getting fit whilst raising money for Children’s Hospice South West. Don’t be shy – let us know your plans and we’ll help to publicise it. |
