Say Moo!

Yesterday Julia and I went on a fund-raising excursion together. It’s vital that we secure corporate sponsorship if we’re to achieve our ambitious target and so we need to convince businesses of the particular urgency to gather in money for Children’s Hospice South West at this time, as they build a second hospice. We are in competition with so many deserving causes, but rather than approach rattling a tin or posting an envelope through a door, we are making a massive effort – giving up several months of our comfy lives and, in my case, committing to toil and hardship of a 600 miles lonely trek that becomes more daunting the more I study the extensive route!

We are also heavily dependent on everyone arranging mini Granny Treks and other events to boost the fund. The bingo evenings at Burtle Village Hall are great fun and proving most lucrative, and Julia is organizing a mini Granny Trek on 18th April with her U3A walking group (pictured). Sponsor forms are flowing out fast and we’re confident they will subsequently flow back in, accompanied by an impressive pile of cheques.
