New Beginnning![]() It’s seven o’clock on New Year’s morning and a misty moon still reigns in a sky scattered with high and low clouds. There’s no hint of a breeze, yet a few nights ago we were briefly battered by a truly ferocious wind and hailstorm that lifted tiles from a cottage across the road and tossed the Christmas lights from our front guttering into the back garden. It was a short, sharp reminder of how insignificant Man is on this great planet Earth, a sentiment multiplied a thousandfold when seeing the television and newspaper images of the devastation in Asia. Yet for all his insignificance, Man shows an incredible strength in his ability to somehow go forward and rebuild. This strength is drawn on heavily by the families of children suffering long-term incurable illness and the Children’s Hospice is of incalculable value in providing a haven of respite and reassurance. The turn of the old year to the new will bring the customary resurgence of good intentions, but on this, my 65th New Year’s Day, I’ve given up on the conventional resolutions. Instead I’m just focusing my whole being on the Granny Trek and resolving to motivate all those thousands of grannies, grandmas and nans out there to enthusiastically join in and help me reach my £60,000 target. Do get in touch with your ideas and plans. We can help and support each other over the coming months. Happy New Year! |
